PHOTOSHOOT CONTEST: Guidelines & Mechanics

In concomitance with the premier showing of the film MIGRANTE: The Filipino Diaspora, the Umangat-Migrante in cooperation with FRONTIERE NEWS is organizing also a quick week photoshoot contest with the theme of ANG MIGRANTENG FILIPINO SA ROMA. This invitation is for all Filipino enthusiast amateur/professional photographers in Rome.

Mechanics

1. The Photo Contest is open to all Filipino enthusiast amateur/professional photographers in Rome. Official judges (either  external or invited member judges) are not ALLOWED to join the photo  competition.

2. Two types of photo can be submitted: DIGITAL or REFLEX. Participants can submit only one (1) entry. Photos can be either colored or B/W. The photo must be taken and owned by the participant regardless of the date taken.

3. Entries will be submitted via email to: umangatmigrante@gmail.com, and will be uploaded via Umangat-Migrante google+ site. Upon submission participants must register online his/her participation and pay a registration fee of 5,00 EUR, with (1) movie complimentary ticket, on or before April 14, 2013. Payment maybe done in person during the showing. Cut-off time of submission of entries will be on April 10, 2013 on or before 23:59.

4. As copyright protection, watermarking is encouraged but not  required. If members will use watermarks, kindly place them in such a  way that they will not distract the image.

5. Photos submitted must have a caption, indicating:

  • Pen Name or alias (ex. Bay Isyot, Amante)
  • Title of the Photo (example: Ang Pananghalian ...)
  • Place where it was taken (example: Piazza Manila)
  • Description (a short story) is recommended but not required

6. All participants must print his/her entry/s (size 30 x 20) and will personally bring it on April 14, 2013 (8:30 - 10:30) at Fratelli Scuole Cristiani via Aurelia 476 Roma during the screening of the film MIGRANTE: The Filipino Diaspora. Personal appearance is ABSOLUTELY REQUIRED. Failure to do so means disqualification.

Criteria for Judging

7. All entries will be scored by a distinguished Board of Judges (3) who will give the 75% of the overall score plus an audience participation through votation equivalent to 25% of the overall score. The following  are the criteria:

  • Relevance to the Theme - 25% - How the photo is connected to the theme
  • Composition 25% - How you combined elements to make your photo entry a singular work of art.
  • Overall Impression 25% - The overall effect/impact your photo entries create in the feelings, intellect, conscience, etcetera of the viewer/audience.
  • Audience Appreciation 25% - How many audience vote no. 1, 2, 3 to your entry.
  • Audience Scoring: #1 = 25%, #2 = 15%, #3 = 5%
  • Photo entries will be shown via slides after each screening (3) of the film except the 3rd screening which will be done before, thereby the audience will cast their votes.

8. All judges' scores will be tabulated and averaged. The top three will be announced and presented  as winners after the last screening.  

  • In case of a tie among the Top 3, the deadlock will be resolved and decided by the Board of Judges plus an instant judges (2) appointed by the organizer during the show.

9. The members of the Board of Judges will start judging via online on April 11 (Thursday) until April 14.
